
The Centre runs training programs throughout Victoria and interstate on all aspects of child
and family development. These can be one day workshops or more extended training. For example, the two
day Foundation Course can be run locally for you and other professionals in your area if you cannot attend
the course in Melbourne.
Courses can be tailor made to reflect the
current concerns and interests of local agencies such as the
emotional milestones of child development, attention deficit
disorder, understanding and working with behavioural
problems, developing skills in therapeutic communication ,
working with infants and young children, supporting
adolescents and many others.
Professional Training in
Regional Australia
The Centre is committed to promoting professional training,
specialist skills and expertise in regional Australia. The Foundation Course and Certifcate Course have been run in country Victoria, South Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, New South Wales and Western Australia.The
Foundation Course and Certificate Course have been
established in Ballarat to train professionals in the Western
region of Victoria. The Centre can offer professional
training to other regions in the State.
Organisational and Consultancy
Services
The Centre offers organisational and consultancy services to
agencies concerned with the welfare and support of children
parents and families, to assist them with the "bigger
picture" in the delivery of effective services at a time of
major change. Agencies which have benefited from this service
cover a wide spectrum from social welfare and health to
education and community groups. Our organisational and

Exploring Parenthood Workshops and
Seminars
The Exploring Parenthood approach is based
on the model developed by Ruth Schmidt Neven in the U.K. This
creates a partnership between parents and professionals and
supports parents to develop their own confidence and skills.
Exploring Parenthood talks and workshops are available on
request to parent groups, schools, child care centres,
kindergartens and professional agencies. Topics
